Devika Dibya Choudhuri, Participating Stakeholder Expert

Devika Dibya Choudhuri is a professor in the Graduate Counseling Program at Eastern Michigan University and has more than 20 years of clinical experience. She is a licensed professional counselor and an eye movement desensitization and reprocessing therapist. Her clinical experience is in agency and university settings and she works with refugees and immigrant and multicultural populations as well as trauma, sexual assault, and abuse survivors. Choudhuri is also a certified coach, a consultant, and presents on cultural competence, diversity, and trauma and loss. She teaches courses in the area of cross-cultural counseling, trauma, grief and loss, group work, sexuality, couple and family, and counseling women and LGBTQ populations. Choudhuri's research and publications focus on multicultural issues in counseling, counselor supervision, and pedagogy. She has published a textbook on multicultural counseling and has edited a set of eight monographs in the series. In addition, Choudhuri has published more than 30 journal articles and book chapters and has presented at more than 50 regional, national, and international venues. She has served as chair of the National Board of Certified Counselors and is president-elect of the Association for Specialists in Group Work.
