In this workshop, we will take up Kevin Kumashiro's charge to "name the moment" and then draw on Teresia Teaiwa's "the classroom as a metaphorical canoe" to identify and develop our own metaphors for liberatory fall teaching.

As liberatory educators preparing fall courses, we are faced with new formations, revelations, and relations of old power structures. How do we draw on traditions of liberatory education to strengthen our teaching in this context? Metaphor can be a simple but powerful tool in the educational struggle for freedom.
