Broadening the Talent Pool for Faculty in STEM at Community Colleges: The Role of Regional Collaboratives (C²S²)
The purpose of these gatherings is to convene higher education administrators, policymakers and scholars to provide insights on best practices for developing partnerships to broaden the talent pool of STEM faculty teaching at community colleges. Building from the collaborative experiences, processes and outcomes across all the Regional Collaboratives (RC), RC leads will share research and insights on RC activities over the last six years with participants. In addition to sharing lessons learned, a primary goal of the series is to provide a space for conversations among participants from geographically different regions to consider potential development of new Regional Collaboratives.
Stipends of $500 will be offered for attendance to at least four of the five one-hour synchronous sessions. Each week, this seminar series will feature faculty and administrators who have successfully developed Regional Collaboratives nationwide to widen the talent pool for STEM faculty at community colleges. Ahead of the sessions, participants will receive access to short videos and additional materials to support their learning.
The weekly sessions will take place on Thursdays from 1 p.m. (CDT). Contact Nina Owolabi at nsears2@illinois.edu for inquiries.
